Edisto Vacation-August 2010

We went on vacation the 3rd week in August to Edisto! We went with the Mathis family, Mimi and Big Daddy and YiaYie and Dave. We had a great house right on the beach with a pool! It was perfect for the kids! We had lots of fun all week and Sophie and Lawson played all day everyday! We went crabbing one day too which was lots of fun! Looking forward to many more family vacations with the same crowd in the years to come!!!

Landon, happy as can be!

Sophie enjoying a bag of goldfish while crabbing

Dave with all of the crabs we caught, yummy!

Fun in the pool!

What an amazing tree!

Happy baby on the beach

Lori and Kade visited us for a day!

Dave and Jon cracking all of the crabs. Out of all of those crabs we got about 2oz of meat. If you ask me it is definitely worth buying crabmeat at the store but I guess it was all about the experience?!?!?!

Sophie, Sam and I took a day trip with some friends (Amy and Marianne) down to meet Lori and Kade for lunch and some beach time at Sullivan's in early August. It was definitely a memorable trip!!! Amy and I braved having 3 kids under the age of 2 in my car on the trip down. We made all in one piece and met Lori and Kade for lunch. We had a good lunch then headed to the beach with 4 kids and a TON of stuff. We noticed that there was a dark cloud overhead but thought we had some time to play on the beach...we were wrong. By the time we got to the beach and got settled we played for about 20 minutes and then a monsoon came. Looking back, it is something that Lori, Amy and I will laugh about for years to come but at the time it was NOT funny. Luckily there were nice people on the beach that felt sorry for us and helped us get some of our stuff back to the car and all of the kids. We went straight back to Lori's house and put all of the kids in the bathtub. Needless to say, we had 4 tired babies (and mommies) after all of that. We still had fun spending time with friends!!!

Attempting to get a picture of all 4 of them was impossible and, as you can see, Marianne and Sam were more interested in trying to eat sand.

Look at their mouths...yuck! (Notice the black cloud in the background?)

Wonder what this sunscreen tastes like?

Bathtime!

These pictures are from early August. These two LOVE bathtime!!!

Sam's Baptism

Sam was baptized at our church on July 11, 2010. It was a very special day for us! Sam did well and didn't cry at all during the service. He actually had a big smile on his face while Amos, our pastor that baptized him, carried him down the aisle of the church after he was baptized. He wore the same outfit that Jon wore when he was baptized 30 years before so that also made it very special!!! I was a nervous wreck since he usually goes to the church nursery during the service but he did amazingly well. Sophie also got to stand up at the front of the church with all of us and did great too! We did take her to the nursery after the baptism so Jon and I didn't totally have a nervous breakdown trying to keep everyone quiet and happy! After church we had family come over to our house for lunch. It is always so nice to have all of our family together with us to celebrate! Sam definitely had a great day and was exhausted by the afternoon. Sophie also enjoyed seeing everyone and got plenty of attention herself!!! Jon and I are so thankful for our beautiful children and are so blessed to celebrate such a wonderful occasion!
