FOOD!

Sophie started eating foods about 2 and a half weeks ago. She has really done great with them. We started with peas, then carrots, squash and yesterday had sweet potatoes for the first time. She really enjoys eating (as you can tell) but would rather feed herself if she could. For now, I'll continue to help her out. She had her 6 month check-up last week and she weighed a whooping 20.0 lbs and was 28 inches long. She is above the 95% in height and weight...she is huge!!!! We are working on adding formula over the next couple of weeks so mommy can have a little freedom!
Her first taste of anything other than cereal. This was peas and she was a little unsure at first...

but a couple of bites later she decided it was okay.
This was carrots...still not sure about it
then she decided that she would "help" me feed her and it was much better.

When it got warm a week or so ago, she was a happy girl!

One of her favorite things to do now is suck on her toes (not very lady-like but we are working on that).

Showing off her shades and flip flops...Hawaii her we come!

Day at the park

The three of us went to the park just up the road from our house on one day several weeks ago. Sophie loved to swing on the swings and liked the slides too! She really enjoyed watching the older children playing as well!

Sophie's new tricks!

Sophie has really been on the move! She learned how to roll from her back to her stomach (she has been doing the opposite since she was a few weeks old) in early February, just before she turned 5 months old. She also is working on sitting up on her own. She can sit for a little while by herself and play with toys but she is still a little wobbly. She can't crawl yet but somehow manages to move all over the place. I can't believe how fast she is growing!

Playing at home

These are just some random pictures of Sophie playing at home. She really loves her exersaucer. She also loves her oatmeal cereal!

Sophie's trip to Nashville!

This post is a little out of order, but we went to Nashville over Valentine's Day weekend for the AHEPA basketball tournament. It was Sophie's first flying experience...thank goodness it was a only a little over an hour from Charlotte! She did okay, but definitely was not a big fan of flying (like her mother). We had a good time and the Greenville team won the tournament...good job Daddy! Sophie also had her first experience seeing a belly dancer at a greek restaurant that we went to on Saturday night. Here are some pictures...

Still not so sure but Papa seems okay with it...

Not real sure about this...

She was exhausted after all the excitement of watching Daddy play basketball all day!

Sophie's Baptism

Sophie was baptized on February 22, 2009 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in downtown Columbia. This is the church where we go and it is also where Mommy and Daddy (and MiMi and Big Daddy) were married! Heather Mathis (my best friend) and Alex Taylor (Jon's little brother) were her godparents. A lot of family members came to the service and the pastor even commented what a big crowd it was! We also had a lunch for her at my parent's house afterwards. It was a very special day!

This is the three of us with the banner that a lady at the church handmade for her...it is beautiful!

With Papa (she was exhausted after her big day)

Yia and Dave (or Papa???-not quite sure what we are calling him yet)

Sunday afternoon at MiMi and Big Daddy's house

These pictures are from a nice Sunday afternoon after church at Sophie's grandparent's house. She really love being outside...especially in the nice weather. She also got to see Papa, her great-grandfather, that day and spend some time on the swing. She had a great time!!!
