June 2010

June was a fun month! Sophie continues to grow and is definitely not a baby anymore. She is her own little person and it is such a blessing to watch her grow and learn...she is seems to be such a little sponge! She knows all of her letters now in addition to all her colors, counting to 20 and alphabet. She is really speaking in atleast 3 word sentences...sometimes more words than that. She is really starting to recongnize everything, she has started telling me whether her outfit is "cute" or not...what a girl! She is also going to the "potty" some. We don't push it, but take her when she asks. We figure we will deal with that hurdle when she turns 2. She has als been doing really well with her manners. She typically says please when asking for something (especially when prompted) and says "thank you" mostly without being asked...she is such a sweet girl. She also has started saying her entire bedtime prayer by herself (it is the same one Jon said as a little boy growing up...so sweet). Sam is also becoming his own little person! He really is starting to get a little better and has the sweetest smile...he knows that that is all he has to do to get his mommy to do anything he wants:) In June he started eating food, the same order as Sophie...peas first, then squash, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas, pears, apples and peaches. His mommy has been a little better with him and started making most of his food...I don't think I realized how easy it was to do with Sophie. His favorites are carrots, sweet pototoes, bananas and peaches. He LOVES to eat, just like his sister. Hopefully he will stay a good eater like Sophie. He is sitting pretty well on his own but still a little wobbly. We are so blessed with two of the sweetest and healthiest children and thank God everyday for them!

eating some cereal...happy as can be!

First taste of peas...are you kidding me?!?!

Love watching my sister play with me!

Trying carrots...I think I might like this...

Attempting to get a picture with the two of them. Absolutely impossible to get them happy, smiling and looking at the camera at the same time!

Edisto and Tybee (Memorial Day weekend)

We had a fun Memorial Day weekend this year! Jon had several days off so we headed down to Edisto to spend a couple of days with some friends. Times really have changed over the last couple of years...everyone has babies now so our days of relaxing on the beach and sleeping in have turned into getting up at 6am and chasing kids all over the beach! It is so much fun to see all of the kids interact and play together and I can't wait to see them all grow up! After a couple days at Edisto, we headed down to Tybee Island for the Christopher family reunion (aka My Big Fat Greek Reunion). We also had a great time there playing on the beach and hanging out with family! Sophie jumped right into the greek dancing...I think she will have it down in no time! Sam also enjoyed all of his time on the beach since it was his first trip! All in all, it was a great long weekend and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Surprisingly the drives to Edisto, Tybee and back all were pretty calm (thank goodness) but we did realize that we definitely needed a bigger car...we now have a Tahoe. We look forward to going back to the beach this summer for some more fun in the sun!!!

Some more about the babies...Sophie continues to amaze us all the time. She is clearly speaking in sentences and has started being able to recognize most letters of the alphabet. She has contined to go to "school" atleast once a week and still loves it! Sam turned 5 months while we were at the beach. He started eating a little cereal at night (which didn't help at all with his sleep) and is doing pretty well with sitting on his own, although he is stll a little wobbly. He is overall a pretty happy fellow but definitely still has his moments. They are both growing up way too fast!

Early May 2010

So, in an effort to try to get caught up with blogging, I'm trying to combine a lot of pictures in one post. These pictures are all from early May. We spent a good bit of time at the pool, which Sophie absolutely LOVES! She has really blossomed into her own little person. She was 20 months on May 13th!!! Time really does fly! She can say her entire alphabet, count to 15, knows colors, shapes and started speaking in sentences fairly well. Sometimes Mommy and Daddy are the only ones who can understand everything but she does pretty well. She also started going to the Drop-In Nursery at our church one morning a week to get her used to being around other kids and she loves it!!! We call it "school" and she is always excited to go. Her "teachers" say that she does really well with the other children, in fact, on her first day they said that she did the best they could remember any child doing on the first day (sorry but have to brag a little!). Sam is also growing up extremely fast. He has gotten a little better with his sleeping but we are still working on it. He started trying to sit up a little on his own and is rolling all over the place. He didn't turn 5 months until the end of the month (29th) but looks like he is already about 9 months old...he is a BIG boy! He is super sweet and loves to cuddle and be held! Sophie and Sam are starting to interact a lot more lately and Sophie will bring him toys and come over and talk to him. She is a great big sister and he loves to watch her play!

Easter 2010

This past Easter was wonderful! We dyed easter eggs with YiaYia, Dave, Al (Owl) and Dani the weekend before Easter. Since Sophie was only 7 months old last year and we were in Hawaii (poor us) we really didn't dye eggs last year so this was a first for her and of course Sam. She seemed to enjoy herself but was very focused on what she was doing. After dying Easter eggs we went to the pool for awhile with everyone which is one of Sophie's favorite things to do. On Easter morning we woke up to treats from the Easter Bunny and then got ready and went to church. We met Mimi, Big Daddy, YiaYia and Dave at Church. Then we went to the Horseshoe to take some pictures and enjoy the scenery. Sophie already loves going to the Horseshoe, but of course, she has garnet blood running through her veins! Then we went to Yesterday's for an Easter lunch and had a great time. We went home for a quick nap and then on to the Uncle David and Aunt Becky's for another meal and fun! Sophie really had a great time and loved hunting for easter eggs. Sam just took it all in stride. Unfortuantely, Jon had to work that afternoon so he left us after lunch at Yesterday's. All in all we had a great day with family and a wonderful Easter. Such a wonderful day reminded us of how blessed we are!!!

Sophie intently focusing on dying the eggs...

Sophie's Easter Basket...the Easter Bunny was good to her.

Sam's Easter Basket...since he was only 3 months old, the Easter Bunny didn't bring quite as much as for Sophie but it he loved his presents!

Hunting eggs in the horseshoe...she had a blast!

Sam hanging out on a blanket under a tree in the horseshoe with several of the eggs that Sophie found...life doesn't get much better!
